What is Session?
Session is an AI music model that generates songs and gives you the tabs, chords, backing tracks, and MIDI.
Who is Session for?
Session is for learners, artists, and producers of all types.
How do I sign up?
Go to https://beta.sessionmusic.app/login to create an account.
How do I create my first song?
Pick a genre you like and hit Create.
Do I need to know how to play music?
No musical experience is required to generate songs with Session. We encourage you to take what you make to your instrument or DAW of choice.
Do I have to pay?
Session is free in beta. We'll share pricing details before any changes.
How do I submit feedback and feature requests?

Creating Songs
How long does it take to generate songs?
Song generation takes just a few seconds.
How many songs can I create?
There are currently no limits. Create as many songs as you'd like!
Can I mix genres?
Yes! We encourage you to mix genres to create unique blends. Mixing genres can lead to surprising and unique results.
Can I request a genre?
Please do! We want to make sure Session supports the genres you love. Let us know at hello@sessionmusic.app.
Can I write my own prompts?
Not yet but soon!
Can I set the key or tempo?
Yes. You can set specific constraints before generating using the Key and Tempo filters.
Why are the songs different colors?
Each song's color shows how the model blended the selected genres.
How do I see songs I've already created?
All of your creations are available under My Creations.
How do I favorite a song?
Click the heart next to the song.
Playback & Practice
How do I listen to a song I've created?
Click the reel to play the song.
How do I view tab and chords for a song?
Click on the song and click on the note icon.
Which instruments have tab?
Session generates interactive tablature for every instrument in the song. We're currently prioritizing guitar and bass tab.
How do I change which instrument's tab I'm looking at?
Click the instrument filter under the song's name and click learn for the instrument you'd like to view.
How do I slow down playback?
Click the tempo filter under the song's name and use the arrows or tap with your mouse or finger to set your tempo.
How do I isolate individual instruments?
Click the instrument filter under the song's name and click mute next to each instrument you want to mute.
Exporting and Ownership
What file formats can I export?
You can export MIDI stems for every instrument in your song.
How many songs can I export?
There's currently no limit to how many songs you can export.
How do I export my song?
Click on the song and click on the download icon.
What is a DAW?
A digital audio workstation (DAW), like Ableton, Logic, and GarageBand.
What are MIDI stems?
MIDI stems are separate files for each instrument in the song that contain the musical notes and information. They can be loaded into a DAW and manipulated in many ways.
Do I own the music I create?
Yes! You have full ownership of everything you create with Session.
Saving & Storage
Where are my songs saved?
We're using local browser storage so that we can get Session in your hands sooner. In time we'll support cloud syncing.
Does using local browser storage mean that I'll lose my songs if I clear my browser history?
Yes. If you need to clear your browser history and cache make sure to download the MIDI or take screenshots of the tablature for any songs you don't want to lose.
How many songs can I save?
Because songs vary in size, around a few hundred songs can be saved.
Will songs start deleting when storage fills up?
When storage fills up the oldest songs will be automatically deleted as new songs are generated.
Are my songs available on multiple devices?
Since songs are saved locally they're only accessible on the device they were created on. In time cloud syncing will ensure all your creations will be available everywhere.
Technical & Troubleshooting
My songs won't generate – what should I do?
Try refreshing the page or opening Session in a new browser tab. If that doesn't work email us at hello@sessionmusic.app.
I can't hear any audio – what should I do?
Mobile devices can't be on silent for audio to play. If you're having other problems please reach out at hello@sessionmusic.app.
What devices and browsers does Session support?
Session works best in modern browsers like Chrome and Safari on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
How often do you release updates?
We operate on a continuous development cycle and push new updates as we make them.
